About Us

The RSPCA Cat Rehoming Hub is based near Darlington in the North East of England.

Working with five local RSPCA branches, the Cat Rehoming Hub re-homes cats across the Darlington, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Sunderland, Northallerton and North Yorkshire areas.

The Cat Rehoming Hub is a local cattery containing 20 pods. These pods provide a lifeline for many cats that have been rescued by RSPCA officers. They have often suffered cruelty, neglect, or been left abandoned.

We currently rehome more than 300 cats and kittens each year and we are planning to steadily increase that number. To do that costs us £75,000 each year. You can help us in our mission to rescue and rehome neglected, abused and abandoned cats in our region by Volunteering or Donating.

Our Co-Ordinator
We have a dedicated co-ordinator, Jennifer Oyston. Jennifer is the point of contact regarding the RSPCA Cat Rehoming Hub. She manages the cats that are in our care, arranging homechecks and the rehoming of our cats. Jennifer can be contacted via email at jennifer.cathub@rspca-sunderland.org.uk  or telephone on 07842 434377.

Intake Policy
All of our cats come into our care via the RSPCA Inspectorate team and the supporting five RSPCA branches. We can NOT take cats from the general public. If you have an unwanted pet we recommend you take a look at the following RSPCA link for advice: https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/unwantedpets

Our Rehoming Procredure
All of our cats and kittens are health checked, neutered, microchipped, and given standard vaccinations, and initial flea and worming treatment. If you are interested in adopting a cat or kitten please contact our co-ordinator (see above or our contact page). Our adoption Fees are £75 for a cat and £95 for a kitten. Our coordinator works 5 days a week (Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri and Saturdays) working 9am till 5pm.

All potential new homes are home-checked prior to adoption. When a cat has been reserved a home-check will be booked for a representitive to visit the potential new home and conduct the relevant checks. If you have any questions regarding the home-checks please feel free to contact our co-ordinator

Find Us on Social Media
Using social media we aim to provide videos and photographs of cats we have available for rehoming. In addition to these rehoming posts we will be attending local village fairs and shows. We will be announcing these events via social media.

For those who don’t have access to facebook or other social media pages we have created this website, and at the top you can view our social media pages without the need for an account.
