Home Checker Volunteers

We are looking for volunteer Home Checkers to visit the homes of potential adopters to ensure their suitability to rehome a cat.

Home Checkers visit the homes of potential adopters and discus the implications of a cat in their home, completing reports and carrying out follow-up visits after adoption.

Home Checkers must have knowledge of cats and have a basic understanding of their needs and behaviours. Home Checkers must be over 18 years old and be able to provide their own transport. No previous experience is necessary. Training will be provided.

Home visits should last no more than 30 minutes and are always scheduled depending on the availability of our Home Checker volunteers and our potential adopters.  For this reason, home checking is a great role for anyone who can only give a limited time commitment to the Cat Hub.

If you are interested in this role, please fill in an RSPCA Volunteer Application Form, including details of your previous relevant experience of caring for cats, and providing two referees for us to contact. You can request a form from our rehoming coordinator on 07842 434377 or email sophie.moran-barker@rspca.org.uk

You may be asked to attend an informal interview and, if successful, when you start as a volunteer you will attend a training course on Home Checking.
