Supported by local RSPCA Branches we are a cat rehoming project based in the North-East of England.

Location, Covering.

The Cat Rehoming Hub is based near Darlington. All viewings are done electronically.

The Cat Hub relies solely on public donations for its funding and rehomes cats across the Darlington, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Teesside, County Durham, Northallerton and North Yorkshire areas.

Volunteer.

We are always looking for volunteers, especially to foster cats, check homes, drive and fundraiser who want to join our friendly and supportive team. For more information on these rewarding roles see our Blog page.

Our Coordinator.

We have a dedicated coordinator, Sophie Moran-Barker. Sophie is the point of contact regarding the RSPCA Cat Rehoming Hub. She manages the cats that are in our care, arranging home checks and the rehoming of our cats.

Intake Policy.

All of our cats come into our care via RSPCA officers and the supporting four RSPCA branches. We can NOT take cats from the general public. If you have an unwanted pet we recommend you take a look at the following RSPCA link for advice:

https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/unwantedpets

Home Checks.

All potential new homes are home-checked prior to adoption. When a cat has been reserved a home-check will be booked for a representative to visit the potential new home virtually by video conference and conduct the relevant checks.

Supported by RSPCA Branches.

The Cat Rehoming Hub is supported by four local RSPCA branches based in the North East. Theses branches are:

  • North Teesside Branch

  • Northallerton, Thirsk and the Dales Branch

  • Middlesbrough South Tees & District Branch

  • Darlington and District Branch (Charity no. 232264) which also administers the Cat Hub.

The rehoming process.

Interested? Follow the steps below!

Step-by-step.

Step One: Please email sophie.moran-barker@rspca.org.uk to request a Perfect Match cat adoption application form or you can download one from our national Society website. You can express a preference for a cat or cats you have seen on Cats Available page or our Facebook page. Please note it is RSPCA policy to rehome kittens in pairs for company, unless there is another cat-friendly cat in the home. You must live within one hour’s drive of Darlington.

Step Two:  Complete the Perfect Match form and email to sophie.moran-barker@rspca.org.uk Waiting time for us to respond to applications is around two weeks, so please be patient.

Step Three: You will receive an email or phone call, asking for further information and/or advising you whether we are able to pair you with a specific cat at this time.

Step Four: If we can offer you a cat or cats for adoption, the remainder of the application process will be completed via phone, email and video conferencing.

Step Five:  If the adoption process is successful, you can make an appointment to collect your cat or it will be brought safely to your home by experienced RSPCA staff. There is an adoption fee to pay when you get your cat.

Step Six: You will receive ongoing support from us following adoption, and a post adoption home visit or video conference may be arranged.
